When I’m not creating architecturally inspired ceramic objects — water tanks, industrial edifices, granaries, silos, etc. — I still enjoy jumping on my Leach-style treadle wheel to make utilitarian pots. Having grown up in the pottery-rich St. Croix Valley of Minnesota and Wisconsin, I was introduced to "Minngeisota" pots and wood firing at an early stage of my ceramic education. I ascribe my fondness for ceramic decal transfers to several influences: growing up in a family-run corner grocery store full of mid-century advertising and packaging; matriculating through my undergraduate art studies at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at the height of the Pop Art era; learning how to silk screen at UW-RF before taking my first clay class; and perpetuating a desire to personalize and contemporize my ceramic vessels.

ARTIST INFORMATION
In 2002, Dan Anderson ended his ceramic teaching in the Department of Art and Design at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Since being awarded the Professor Emeritus title, he has become a full-time studio artist. A frequent workshop presenter, Dan has lectured and demonstrated at over 60 different venues over the past two decades. Dan Anderson taught at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for 32 years, pouring his heart and soul into the ceramics program, bringing it up to the well-known program it is today. Dan has had exhibitions all over the world and won awards and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Illinois Arts Council and the Container Corporation of America.
